Sandy Bently

Sandy Bentley is not someone you ordinarily see in the headlines, but she deserves her minute of celebrity this Sun, for attractive the trends by commotion. The famous Corinthian recording female and past live-in lover of the world's most famous bachelor, Hugh Hefner, is today one of the top Google trends, for no else saneness than state fairish, stunning and existence related with Deutschmark Yagalla, a New Royalty Ponzi contriver, and Michael Tardio, the individual of a gruesome 2002 slay.

Sandy Bentley reportedly received nearly $750,000 worth of jewelry from Yagalla, who was her lover in the summer of 1999. The jewelry connects Yagalla to the gruesome 2002 double murder of Michael Tardio and Christopher Monson, who were found shot to death, in a burning Mercedes SUV on Sept. 2, 2002, in Studio City, Calif, however he is not a suspect. Sandy Bentley, who was dating Michael Tardio, is not a suspect either. The sudden interest in these two characters can also be explained by the fact that they were the subject of the “48 Hours Mystery” show Saturday night.

This was not necessarily the ideal comeback for Sandy, who, together with her identical twin sister, Mandy, was one of the Playboy’s acclaimed “Bentley Twins.” The sisters lived with Hugh Hefner at the Playboy Mansion, – both as his lovers. Back in 2000 they appeared on some of television’s most popular shows, like “Sex and the City,” “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” and on “Two and a Half Men,” where they played party girls. Since 2000, however, the world media focused on other blond beauties – the glory of a Playmate is usually short lived.

Transformers 3 : Dark of the Moon

Transformers: Dark of the Moon is the third and final film in the Transformers film series, directed by Michael Bay and produced by Steven Spielberg. It is the sequel to Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and is scheduled for release on June 29 (Egypt) and July 01 (US), 2011, in Real D 3D, regular 2D theaters and IMAX.

Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson and John Turturro are set to reprise their starring roles, with Peter Cullen returning as the voice of Optimus Prime. Ehren Kruger, who collaborated in the writing of the second film, was said to be again involved in the writing. Despite having initially been confirmed for the film, and with the film already into principal photography, it was announced that Megan Fox would not be reprising her role from the previous two films. With Fox's character Mikaela being dropped, Sam was assigned a new love interest, who will be played by English model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Also, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, having written the first two films, will not return for the third installment in the series, which Orci had earlier somewhat anticipated, fearing the duo would "risk getting stale". Bay has stated this would be his last installment in the series.

The Autobots learn of a Cybertronian spacecraft on the Moon and must race against the Decepticons to find it and learn its secrets, which could turn the tide in the Transformers' final battle.

Brooke Wilberger: Mother Shows Incredible Grace On Dateline

Brooke Wilberger was a beautiful girl who tragically lost her life to the hands of a man named Joel Courtney. Dateline aired Brooke Wilberger’s story tonight, and perhaps the most incredible part of the story is the fact that Brooke Wilberger’s mother was able to thank Joel Courtney for finally revealing where Brooke’s body was located after he took her life.

Brooke Wilberger was abducted from an apartment complex by Joel Courtney. He lured her to his car by asking her for help moving a package, but when she approached him, he held a knife to her and told her to get into the car. Sadly, Brooke’s life ended in a wooded area about 10 miles away from where she was taken.

In the ultimate fight for justice, Brooke’s mother and siblings made a deal with Joel Courtney. He was given life in prison in New Mexico in exchange for revealing where Brooke’s remains were located.

During a press conference after his conviction, Brooke Wilberger’s mother expressed gratitude towards Joel Courtney for finally bringing closure to her family on what happened to Brooke.

ElBaradei and Egypt’s Nuclear Future

The current turmoil in Egypt and the prospect of the collapse of Hosni Mubarak’s regime apart from everything else raise questions about the country’s nuclear program and where it might be headed. This is particularly interesting since a leading candidate to head the new opposition appears to be Mohammed ElBaradei, the former head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), who has been critical of the Egyptian program in the past.

In March of 2005, ElBaradei issued an IAEA report saying that there were “matters of concern” involving the Egyptian nuclear program: the IAEA had found evidence that Egypt had failed to declare experiments it had been conducting involving, in “small amounts,” the separation of plutonium and uranium enrichment which can be done without a large enrichment facility. This was in violation of an IAEA safeguards agreement Egypt had signed in 1981. (Egypt’s two reactors and other nuclear facilities are run by the Egyptian Atomic Energy Authority under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Authority.

Under Nasser’s successor, Anwar Sadat, Egypt appeared to downplay talk about weapons, though it continued to pursue nuclear power; in 1981, Egypt ratified the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty and came under the IAEA safeguards regime. Nevertheless, the government of President Hosni Mubarak has had dealings with other nuclear source countries about nuclear technology. In 1992, Egypt signed a contract with the Argentines to build a second and substantially larger reactor—it would have eleven times the power output of the 1954 Russian reactor. Both of these reactors are much too small to produce any significant amount of power for civilian use or plutonium; they are designed for training purposes and for the manufacture of medical isotopes. In this, they resemble the Tehran Research Reactor in Iran’s capital, and like it, they use partially enriched uranium as fuel. The new Egyptian reactor went critical in February of 1998. According to some recently disclosed Wikileaks memos, Mubarak was also offered nuclear assistance, including “nuclear scientists, materials, and even weapons,” from some former Russian republics in the 1990s, but declined.

Along with the plutonium experiments, the IAEA’s critical report in 2005 related to the discovery of some traces of highly enriched uranium, which raised more questions: Egypt has some natural uranium but there is no evidence that it has an enrichment facility. In late 1964, when Nasser was stepping up his efforts to gain nuclear technology, it appears that the Egyptian government made contact with Gernot Zippe the Austrian engineer, who was one of the creators of the modern centrifuge and was a consutant to the European centrifuge industry. But Zippe also received visits from the Mossad and decided not to take up the Egyptian offer. I had some conversations with Zippe before his death and asked him about it, but he would not tell me anything. The Egyptians did manufacture a small amount of uranium hexafluoride, which is what one would use in a gas centrifuge. What troubled El Baradei in 2005, however, was not Egypt’s nuclear activity, which was legitimate, but the fact that the Egyptians were trying to do it covertly.

In 2007, Hosni Mubarak announced that the government planned to construct larger power reactors, but until very recently nothing was said about a weapons program. The prospect of Iran’s getting close to being able to produce nuclear weapons, however, changed everything. Last year, Mubarak said that Egypt would have to get nuclear weapons to defend itself. The Mubarak government claimed that since the Israelis have the bomb, Egypt too has the right to complete the nuclear fuel cycle, although no concrete steps seem to have been taken in that direction.

But now the Egyptian people are in the streets along with ElBaradei. If he is part of a new government that emerges, one hopes that his attitude towards nuclear proliferation will not change, though the Muslim Brotherhood—which is known to be hostile to Israel and which has in recent years called for Egypt to acquire a nuclear deterrent—could put new pressure on the government to pursue a bomb. No one knows how this will turn out but of one thing we can be grateful: unlike in Pakistan, which faces instability of its own and has apparently doubled the number of its nuclear weapons to about a hundred, there aren’t any nuclear weapons in Egypt that might fall into the wrong hands.

Tony Steward to Clemson

Tony Steward to Clemson - Linebacker Tony Steward, the No. 9 overall player in the ESPNU 150, had been torn between Clemson and FSU since the middle of the spring, and on Wednesday morning he chose Clemson.

"Next year I plan on attending Clemson University," he said on ESPNU. "I just felt like it was the right place for me."

Steward said the biggest challenge in his decision was his family, which lives in Florida. This was a huge get for Clemson, which is coming off a losing season, and another impressive job by coach Dabo Swinney and his staff.

Egypt Crisis

Last Friday on a conference call with reporters about the Obama Administration’s long-term energy proposals, Energy Secretary Steven Chu responded to a question about the situation in Egypt, saying: “Certainly any disruption in the Middle East means a partial disruption in the oil we import. It’s a world market and [a disruption] could actually have real harm of the price. The best way America can protect itself against these incidents is to decrease our dependency on foreign oil, in fact to diversify our supply.” This is a nice sentiment. Unfortunately, everything the Obama Administration is doing is only increasing our dependence on foreign sources of oil.

Secretary Chu is right: Oil does sell on a world market. But transportation and other distribution factors do segment oil markets somewhat. In fact, the United States is currently paying about $10 less for a barrel of oil than European and Asian nations are. Why? Because of U.S. access to oil refined from Canadian oil sands. Access to these vast natural resources is a great diversification of our oil supply. But now the Obama Administration is trying to make it harder for American consumers to get Canadian oil. The Obama Environmental Protection Agency is stonewalling approval for the Keystone pipeline, which would increase the amount of oil the U.S. receives from Canada by over a million barrels per day. And that is not the only oil the Obama Administration is trying to keep out of American consumers’ hands.

Offshore, the Obama Interior Department has blocked access to 19 billion barrels of oil in the Pacific and Atlantic coasts and the eastern Gulf of Mexico—and another 10 billion barrels estimated in the Chukchi Sea off the Alaskan coast.  Onshore, federal leasing of oil and gas exploration in the western United States has dropped significantly in the past two years. According to data compiled by the Western Energy Alliance, the Bureau of Land Management offered 79 percent fewer leases for oil and natural gas development in Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming in 2010 than in 2005. And then there is the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve, where an estimated 10 billion barrels of oil lie beneath a few thousand acres that can be accessed with minimal environmental impact.

Allowing Americans to develop these resources could easily produce at least 1 million new barrels of oil a day. The Heritage Foundation’s Center for Data Analysis estimates that, if the United States managed to increase its domestic oil production by 1 million barrels a day, it would create an additional 128,000 jobs and generate $7.7 billion in economic activity.

As bad as these existing energy policies are, President Obama’s planned energy policies are even worse. Today, the President is meeting with Senate Energy and Natural Resources Chairman Jeff Bingaman (D–NM) to plot passage of a clean energy standard (CES) bill. CES is just another cap-and-trade, energy-tax-like policy, except it’s all cap and no trade. A CES would mandate that all electricity providers generate a certain percentage of energy from carbon-free sources. Just like cap and trade, this policy is fundamentally just an energy tax that would drive up everyone’s electricity prices. Ironically, this would make electric vehicles even more expensive to operate, but we’re sure the Obama Administration would offer another round of taxpayer-funded subsidies to fix that problem.

Government policies that ban economically feasible energy development while subsidizing economically unsustainable ones only raise energy costs rather than lowering them. What the U.S. economy really needs is a truly free-market energy approach, one that includes (1) real nuclear energy reform, not more loan guarantees; (2) predictable and sensible coal regulations; (3) reduced regulation on renewable energy; (4) an end to all energy subsidies; and (5) common-sense limits to environmental litigation.

Congress should not let unrest in the Middle East scare them into energy policies that would make all our energy only more expensive. More bans on energy development, more subsidies for economically unproven technologies, and expensive new alternative energy production mandates are not the answer. America needs a true free-market approach to energy, and we need it now.

Punxsutawney Phil Groundhog Day

Punxsutawney Phil Groundhog DayPunxsutawney Phil Groundhog Day  — The world's most famous groundhog predicted an early spring Wednesday, but wasn't willing to go out on a limb to forecast whether the nearby Pittsburgh Steelers will win Sunday's Super Bowl.

Punxsutawney Phil emerged just after dawn on Groundhog Day to make his 125th annual weather forecast in front of a smaller-than-usual crowd who braved muddy, icy conditions to hear his handlers reveal that he had not seen his shadow.

Including Wednesday's forecast, Phil has seen his shadow 98 times and hasn't seen it just 16 times since 1887, according to the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club's Inner Circle, which runs the event. There are no records for the remaining years, though the group has never failed to issue a forecast.

The Groundhog Day celebration is rooted in a German superstition that says if a hibernating animal casts a shadow on Feb. 2, the Christian holiday of Candlemas, winter will last another six weeks. If no shadow was seen, legend said spring would come early.

In reality, Pennsylvania's prophetic rodent doesn't see much of anything. The result is actually decided in advance by 14 members of the Inner Circle, who don tuxedos and top hats for the event.

The celebration usually draws 10,000 to 15,000 spectators when it falls on a weekday, Groundhog club spokesman Luke Webber said. The area was under a winter weather warning and while heavier snows and sleet never materialized, rain falling in about 35-degree temperatures made for a below-average crowd, said Webber, who offered no specific estimate.

Black History Facts

Black History Facts - According to the Library of Congress, the Black History Month has its roots in what is called the Week of Black History. In 1925, Dr. Carter G. Woodson, an African American historian who founded the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History, proposed the week of Black History as a way to encourage people to learn more about Black History. He chose a week in February that included the birthdays of both Abraham Lincoln and black abolitionist Frederick Douglass.

The History Week was celebrated the first Black in February 1926. “The response has been overwhelming,” says the Library of Congress. “Clubs Black History rose, teachers demanded materials to instruct their pupils, and progressive whites, not simply white scholars and philanthropists, stepped forward to continue effort. ”

In early 1970, the Week of Black History was renamed Black History Week “to reflect the change in language used to describe African-Americans. Then in 1976, that America has seen its bicentennial, the week of Black History has been expanded to the entire month that we celebrate today.

Each February since 1976, the U.S. president issues a proclamation declaring the second month of the year’s History Month or African-American History Month.

To commemorate and celebrate the contributions made to our country by people of African descent, American historian Carter G. Woodson established Black History Week. The first celebration occurred February 12, 1926. For many years the second week of February was set aside for this celebration coincides with the birthdays of abolitionist / editor Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln. In 1976, as part of the bicentennial of the nation, the week was expanded into Black History Month. Each year, the Presidents of the United States proclaimed that February National African American History Month.

The population figures presented here are based on various sources, but not on the 2010 census. We expect to publish the 2010 figures for black people and other races by April 1, 2011.

On July 1, 2009, the estimated population of black residents in the United States, including more than one race. They made up 13.6 percent of the total population of the United States. This figure represents an increase of more than half a million residents a year earlier.

Percentage of population that was black in Mississippi in 2009. Although New York had the largest number of blacks of any state, Mississippi had the highest proportion of blacks in the total population. Blacks also made up more than a quarter of the population of Louisiana (33 percent), Georgia (31 percent), Maryland (31 percent), South Carolina (29 percent) and Alabama (27 percent). They accounted for 55 percent of the population in the District of Columbia.

Number of states where blacks were the largest minority group in 2009. These include Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin. Blacks were also the largest minority group in the District of Columbia. (Note: Minorities are part of a group other than single-race non-Hispanic white.)

Charlotte wins 2012 Democratic National Convention

Charlotte wins 2012 Democratic National Convention -The DNC picked Charlotte over Cleveland, Minneapolis and St. Louis.

Charlotte leaders hailed the selection.
"They honored that the Democratic National Committee chose Charlotte," Mayor Anthony Foxx said in a statement. "They have an unmatched opportunity to show the world what a beautiful, energetic, innovative and diverse city  are building in Charlotte."
Gov. Bev Perdue called the decision "fantastic news for North Carolina regardless of your political party. A national political convention is a keystone event that will boost North Carolina's economy, while showcasing Charlotte and our state to the nation and the world."

The convention is expected to bring more than 35,000 delegates, media and other visitors to the city and generate more than $150 million in economic benefits. It also will bring international attention to a city that has long aspired to be "world-class."

Foxx had called the convention "a game-changer, bringing new jobs, new spending and new businesses to our city, region and state."

The convention will start on Labor Day, Sept. 3, 2012.

DNC Chairman Tim Kaine called it "a tough choice."

"This process offered some great choices," he said in an email to the DNC.

Republicans announced last May that their convention would be in Tampa the week before Democrats convene in Charlotte.

The convention will bring President Obama to a city and county that helped him become the first Democratic presidential candidate in 32 years to carry North Carolina and drive a wedge into an often solid-red South.

His 100,000-vote margin in Mecklenburg County helped him carry North Carolina by a scant 14,000 votes out of 4.3 million.

Foxx has said he expects the city would have to raise about $45 million to meet DNC requirements. Some of the money would go toward what he has described as "a fairly major upfit" of Time Warner Cable Arena.

The Denver 2008 Convention Host Committee reported raising $60 million to stage the convention - more than the $40 million it originally promised. The Denver Post reported that almost three-quarters came from labor unions and health care, telecommunications and energy companies.

Denver officials have estimated the 2008 Democratic convention brought the area a $266 million economic benefit.

This wasn't the first time Charlotte tried to lure a national political party convention.

In mid-1997 a group called Carolinas 2000 sought to interest both parties in choosing the city. Charlotte failed to make the cut with Democrats after it became one of 27 cities asked to submit bids. It did make the short list of nine cities in the running for the GOP convention, and even drew a visit from the Republicans' site selection committee before it lost out to Philadelphia.

The decision to come to Charlotte is an implicit signal that President Obama and Democrats plan to compete in a state and a region where they enjoyed some success in 2008. That's despite the "shellacking" the party took last fall.

Last year Foxx told the National Journal the convention would be "an opportunity to take the fight right into the heart of where folks have always thought the Republican Party had an advantage."

Duke Energy CEO Jim Rogers, who co-chaired the effort to bring the convention, said the selection "clearly elevates our city to a new level in national and world stature.

"Only a few singular events in the U.S. rival the domestic and worldwide media exposure of a major political convention: a presidential inauguration, a royal wedding, the Super Bowl and the Olympics. The economic and reputational significance of being chosen for this honor cannot be overstated."
